
Coco Gauff, the 20-year-old tennis sensation, recently made a generous donation of $100,000 to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) to support aspiring Black tennis players. This donation will establish the Coco Gauff Scholarship Program, aimed at providing opportunities for students at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
In a heartfelt statement, Coco shared her family’s deep-rooted history with HBCUs, saying, “My family has a deep-rooted history with HBCUs, going all the way back to my great-great-grandfather. From aunts and uncles to cousins, HBCUs have played a huge role in shaping who we are. Supporting UNCF in creating opportunities for student-athletes in tennis means a lot to me.”
Coco’s mother, Candi Gauff, expressed her pride and love for her daughter’s philanthropic efforts. On social media, Candi posted, “@cocogauff ❤️❤️❤️,” showing her unwavering support.
Coco’s donation has been widely praised, with many acknowledging the impact it will have on young Black athletes. “As a young Black athlete, I understand how impactful it is to see people who look like me thriving in both sports and education. I want to help the next generation of student-athletes continue pursuing their passion for tennis while reaching their academic goals,” Coco added.

Now ranked no.3, Gauff played her last match on the 21st of January when she was overcome by world no.10 Paula Badosa 7-5 6-4 in the quarter of the Australian Open (draw).
This season Coco owns an overall 9-1 record. Coco clinched 1 title in Australia.
Gauff has scheduled to play next in Doha (Qatar TotalEnergies Open). She will start the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 10th of February.
