Nick Kyrgios left the US Open without much glory.
The Australian had to retire in the third round against Marchenko because of a hip injury. John McEnroe accused Kyrgios of not being professional (“He’s hurt because he’s not training enough.”), and Roger Rasheed took aim at Kyrgios saying that he sabotaged his chances by entering the doubles draw despite carrying a hip flexor injury into the tournament.
Kyrgios’ reply
The Australian didn’t take Rasheed’s comments nicely to fire back on Twitter saying “John McEnroe takes a stab, I understand, Roger Rasheed haha maybe not so much. I got to ur career high when I was 18… ease up champ.”
Rasheed achieved a world no.192 career high.
