Lleyton Hewitt has expressed some disappointment about not having Nick Kyrgios in the team for this week’s Davis Cup match against Sweden. Kyrgios, who had been committed to making a return to the Australian team, had to withdraw due to an abdominal injury sustained during his first tournament in 18 months.
Hewitt mentioned that he was excited to have Kyrgios back in the squad, but he understands that Kyrgios’s body isn’t yet ready for high-level tennis. He remains hopeful that Kyrgios will make a future return to the team.
He commented: “I was excited to think of the potential for him to be back in the Davis Cup team, but it wasn’t to be and obviously he’s very underdone with his body, so it’s not surprising he’s got an injury trying to play five-set
tennis straight away without many matches”Nick Kyrgios in 2025
