Tony Godsick, former agent to tennis legend Roger Federer, believes Jannik Sinner is on the right path to becoming a legend in the sport, drawing comparisons to Federer and Rafael Nadal. After clinching his third Grand Slam title at the 2025 Australian Open, Sinner, at just 23, has shown potential to continue climbing the ranks of tennis history.
While Godsick acknowledges that Sinner is not yet on the same level of global stardom as Federer, Nadal, or Novak Djokovic, he sees qualities in the Italian that could lead to greatness. Godsick praises Sinner’s professionalism and on-court behavior, describing him as serious and well-mannered, which reminds him of Federer.
“Sinner is loved by the people, plays a style of tennis I admire, and knows how to perform when it matters,” Godsick stated. He also noted that while Sinner is not yet a global icon like his predecessors, his solid foundations put him on a promising trajectory.
Sinner’s impressive 2024 season saw him finish with a remarkable 73-6 record, claiming three Masters 1000 titles and two Grand Slams, as well as defending the Davis Cup and finishing the year as world No. 1. Despite this success, the rising star faces fierce competition from Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, who already boasts four Grand Slam victories.
Federer himself praised Sinner’s growth, acknowledging that their rivalry with Alcaraz will be one of the most exciting in tennis for years to come. With both players showing tremendous potential, the tennis world is looking forward to many thrilling matchups ahead.
