Potapova And Ex Husband

Anastasia Potapova, the world No. 33 tennis player, recently opened up about her divorce from fellow tennis pro Alexander Shevchenko in a candid interview. The couple, who married during the 2023 off-season, announced their separation following the 2024 US Open. Potapova shared her thoughts on the emotional rollercoaster of the past year, expressing disappointment over how things turned out.

Potapova revealed that she and Shevchenko had issues that they couldn’t overcome, despite their mutual respect and support for each other’s careers. She emphasized the importance of mental strength and the support she received from her family, especially her mother, who traveled with her on tour. Despite the challenges, Potapova managed to maintain her performance on the court, ending the year ranked inside the Top 40.

The interview provided a glimpse into Potapova’s resilience and determination to move forward, both personally and professionally. She expressed her wishes for Shevchenko’s success and acknowledged the difficulties of navigating relationships in the competitive world of professional tennis. With a new season ahead, Potapova is focused on defending her titles and continuing to grow as a player.

She commented: “I made some shockingly big decisions at the end of the year. But like I mentioned, that’s life. Unfortunately, things like that happen and you have to accept it. Of course, I’m very disappointed it all went the way it did.

I really wish Sasha, I can say it on camera, I’m not ashamed of these words, I really wish him all the best, and he deserves all the best. I wish him all the best with his career, as well, because he’s very talented and he has to keep working and developing as a player. But I guess we had problems; some couples get over these problems, and some don’t. Unfortunately, we were one of the couples that didn’t.”
