Bernard Tomic, the Australian tennis player, has recently addressed reports regarding a police investigation into alleged match-fixing. The investigation, which focused on two of Tomic’s matches, raised concerns about suspicious betting patterns. One of the matches in question was the 2022 Australian Open qualifying match against Roman Safiullin, which Tomic lost 1-6, 4-6. The other match took place in Turkey in late 2021.

Tomic, who is currently competing in the Brisbane Challenger, has not been charged with any offense. He has refused to comment directly on the investigation, stating that tennis keeps him alive and gives him purpose. Despite the investigation, Tomic remains focused on his goal of breaking into the ATP top 100 this year.

The investigation was reportedly led by the New South Wales Police, with assistance from their Victorian and Queensland counterparts, as well as the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) also conducted a separate probe into the matter. However, there was not enough evidence for the police to press charges, and Tomic was not found guilty of any criminal conduct.

Tomic’s career has been marked by both successes and controversies. He shot to fame as the youngest player to win a men’s main-draw match at the Australian Open in 2009 and reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals in 2011. However, his career has since faced numerous challenges, including disciplinary issues and public outbursts. Despite these setbacks, Tomic remains determined to continue playing tennis and achieving his goals.
