At 37 years of age and a not-so-good shoulder, Ivo Karlovic is not done. The Croat amazes again to set up a new record at the US Open after blasting 61 aces against Lu in the first round. The previous record at the US Open belonged to Richard Krajicek that fired 49 aces in 1999 (quarters).
Ivo ended up winning that match 4-6 7-6 (4) 6-7 (4) 7-6 (5) 7-5.

I need to work more on my serve
Karlovic was visibly happy for both the outcome of the match and the new record to comment
“I knew there were a lot of aces because at one stage I was serving one on almost every point but I didn’t know it was a record. I’m getting old.I have to work a bit more on my serve, I guess. (joking)”
Next vs. Young
Karlovic will play the second round against Donald Young. The head to head is 2-0 for Ivo.
