Patrick Mouratoglou, renowned coach of Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka, has expressed reservations about coaching Emma Raducanu, emphasizing the importance of long-term commitment for success. Raducanu, who shot to fame with her US Open victory in 2021, has struggled with stability in her coaching relationships, having worked with six different coaches since then.

The latest partnership, with Cavaday, came to an end after Raducanu’s early exit at the Singapore Tennis Open. Cavaday, who spent 14 months coaching Raducanu, announced the split, citing the need to focus on his health due to the demanding tennis schedule.

Mouratoglou, reflecting on Raducanu’s situation, questioned if she was ready to trust a coach for a long enough period to achieve the potential that earned her a major title. He believes constant changes to her tennis project have hindered her development, stating, “You cannot change your tennis project every three months.”

Mouratoglou’s insight comes after a career coaching elite players, including a decade-long collaboration with Williams, where he guided her to 10 Grand Slam titles, and a brief spell with Laura Robson. He is currently coaching Naomi Osaka, another Grand Slam champion.
