Simona Halep extended congratulations to Jannik Sinner’s coach, Darren Cahill, after Sinner’s Australian Open victory despite ongoing doping controversy.

Sinner clinched his third Grand Slam title, defeating Alexander Zverev in Melbourne. However, his recent doping allegations remain a point of contention, particularly among fellow players, including Halep. The Romanian previously criticized the lack of transparency surrounding Sinner’s case after his positive Clostebol test, which he attributed to inadvertent exposure during physiotherapy.

Halep, who faced her own doping ban in 2022, expressed her frustration over perceived preferential treatment in Sinner’s case but set aside differences to commend Cahill, her former coach. Sharing a heartfelt Instagram story, she wrote, “so happy for you.”

Despite the lingering controversy, Sinner’s win solidifies his standing as a dominant force in tennis, with Cahill’s guidance a key factor in his success.
