Speculation about Jannik Sinner’s health has intensified ahead of his Australian Open quarterfinal clash with Alex de Minaur. Reports suggest the world No. 1 may be battling pneumonia, following concerning scenes during his win over Holger Rune.
During Monday’s match, Sinner appeared to shake uncontrollably on his right side and required medical treatment after delaying his arrival and leaving the court mid-match. He admitted to feeling physically unwell, experiencing dizziness, and struggling with movement, particularly to his left.
“I was not feeling really well. I think we saw that today,” Sinner acknowledged post-match. Despite these challenges, he managed to secure victory after a prolonged 21-minute delay to repair a broken net hook.
Sinner faces a formidable test in de Minaur as he battles both his opponent and his own physical struggles.
