“A year ago, I was here with my back injury, and I didn’t know if I had to retire from this sport,” Badosa revealed. “Now I’m here, playing the best in the world. I never thought I’d be in the semifinals a year later.”

Badosa credited her determination for the win, acknowledging Gauff’s strong start. “Coco was playing insane tennis at the beginning, but I’m super proud of the level I gave today,” she said.
