Andy Murray was probably the face of Team GB during the last Olympic Games.
Besides being the flag-bearer, the Brit was credited for giving an inspiring speech to the entire team just before the open ceremony; according to Team GB chef de mission Mark England that speech was probably the extra motivation that the team needed.

Mark England commented
“We had some very, very high-profile athletes in the team in a way that we hadn’t necessarily had before.
Justin Rose [golf] is a good example of that, and Andy Murray was defending his title from London.
Andy was the flag-bearer and spoke to all of the team before the opening ceremony, spoke really eloquently about being part of Team GB and the importance of everybody doing everything they could to replicate London.”
Eventually, Team GB was second only to Team USA after winning won 27 gold medals (67 in total). Andy was absolutely crucial to achieving that.
