Neither player conceded a service game during this set. Therefore the affair had to be decided at the tiebreak. Finally, Roger won the breaker at 3. Federer was 1 mini-breakdown in a couple of occasions, but eventually he won the last 5 points of the tiebreak to revers a 2-3 deficit ina 7-3 win.
2nd set.
Nadal was far too good to concede just 1 game before breaking the Swiss 2 times and win the set 6-1. Roger lost the plot in the last 5 games of the set (from 1-1 to 6-1) and it seemed that after he was broken in the 4th game at love, he just conceded the set to his rival to conserve energy.
3rd set.
There was not much difference between them in this set with the exception of 1 break that Roger conquered in the 4th game (3-1) before winning the set (6-3). That break was an important “moment-changing” as before that Nadal looked to be in firm control.
4th set.
Similarly to the 3rd set, the set was pretty even as both sides managed to hold the serve for most of the time. The only difference was 1 break that the Swiss conquered in the 3rd game (2-1) before winning the set (6-4).
After this match, the head to head between Federer and Nadal is 24-16 for Rafael.
