Darren Cahill, the renowned Australian tennis coach, will no longer be coaching Jannik Sinner starting from 2026. This decision was confirmed by Sinner himself during an interview at the Australian Open. Cahill, who has been coaching Sinner since 2022, has played a significant role in the Italian player’s rise to the top of the tennis world. Under Cahill’s guidance, Sinner has achieved remarkable success, including winning the Australian Open and US Open in 2024, as well as four Masters 1000 titles.
Cahill, who has also coached top players like Simona Halep, Lleyton Hewitt, and Andre Agassi, announced his intention to retire from coaching after the 2025 season. He expressed that it is the right time for Sinner to get a new voice and fresh inspiration. Simone Vagnozzi, who has been working alongside Cahill, is expected to take on a more prominent role in Sinner’s coaching team moving forward.
The partnership between Cahill and Sinner has been highly successful, with Sinner becoming the world number one and winning multiple Grand Slam titles. However, both Cahill and Sinner believe that a change in coaching staff will bring new perspectives and help Sinner continue to grow as a player. Cahill’s decision to step down is seen as a mutual agreement, with both parties acknowledging the need for a fresh start.
As Sinner prepares for the upcoming season, he remains focused on maintaining his high level of performance and achieving even greater success on the tennis court. The transition in coaching staff is expected to be smooth, with Vagnozzi ready to take on the challenge of guiding Sinner to further victories.
