After a controversial moment during her victory over Amanda Anisimova on Wednesday night, fans have accused Emma Raducanu of cheating.
After overcoming an injury, the 22-year-old won 6-3, 7-5, and secured her first-ever spot in the Australian Open third round. Raducanu had to take a quick medical break during the game after needing treatment for what appeared to be a lower back problem.
Later on, a few fans expressed their frustration with the timing of the break, with some even speculating that the British star had used it as a tactic. Anisimova had jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Raducanu took the break. The 22-year-old went on to win the set 6-3 after the treatment.
Following that, fans quickly expressed their opinions about Raducanu’s alleged strategies on social media.
One fan wrote: “This is flat-out cheating, by the way.”
Another commented: “Because she is a cheater.”
One weighed in: “She’s a cheater!! Running around winning 3 games after an MTO on a hip? Please!!! Faker.”
Another wrote: “Jose jinx.”
