At the 2025 Australian Open, American tennis star Coco Gauff turned heads with her Marvel-inspired outfit. The world No. 3 player revealed that her custom-designed attire was a tribute to her love for Marvel superheroes.
Gauff, who is known for her powerful game and charismatic personality, explained that she wanted to bring a touch of superhero flair to her New Balance apparel for the tournament. “I’m a huge Marvel fan. A lot of the female superheroes have cool cutouts on their outfits, so that’s what I wanted to do,” she said.
The outfit, which features intricate cutouts and a bodysuit design, certainly stands out on the court. However, Gauff admitted that it wasn’t without its challenges. “It is a bodysuit, so I have to put the bottom part on first and pull it over my head, so it’s kind of a struggle. And if you can’t hold your bladder, it’s also not a good idea, but you have to sacrifice for fashion!” she joked with the crowd.
Despite the difficulties, Gauff’s dedication to her unique style paid off. She successfully navigated her first-round match against Sofia Kenin, winning 6-3, 6-3. Gauff’s superhero-inspired outfit not only showcased her personal style but also added an extra layer of excitement to the tournament.
Gauff’s choice of footwear also had a personal touch. Her shoes were inspired by basketball shoes, a nod to her father’s wish for her to play basketball instead of tennis. “My shoes are inspired by basketball shoes, because that’s the sport my dad wanted me to play, but I’m glad I chose tennis,” she said.
As Gauff continues her journey in the Australian Open, fans and fellow players alike are eagerly watching to see if she can add another major title to her collection. With her superhero-inspired outfit, Gauff has certainly made a memorable impression on and off the court.
