Federer, Nadal, Djokovic in pole position to win Wimbledon

WIMBLEDON. Federer, Nadal, Djokovic in pole position to win the Championships once more

Federer Djokovic

Wimbledon is fast approaching to the end of the event, and there are now few players still “alive” in the competition. Unfortunately, most of the “nextgen” was wiped out in the very early stages of this edition after the likes of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Sascha Zverev, and Denis Shapovalov lost in the 1st round. Felix Auger-Aliassime also couldn’t make it beyond the 3rd round.

Eventually, everything went back to the future with the big3 (Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal) still kicking and alive and very much in charge.

Roger Federer

The 8-time Wimbledon champion is playing magnificent tennis and with the exception of the very first set against Harris Lloyd, the Swiss legend didn’t drop a single set on his way to the quarterfinal. Roger was outstanding in the 4th round against Matteo Berrettini after he won the encounter 6-1 6-2 6-2 in just 1 hour and 17 minutes and after committing just 5 unforced errors which is a rarity for such an aggressive player. Federer will face Kei Nishikori in the quarters with a 7-3 win-loss record and he is considered the hot favorite among the online betting picks. Rafael Nadal

Rafa is also in supreme form. The Spanish sensation managed to overcome a dangerous Nick Kyrgios early in the 2nd round to then roll over all the other opponents. Nadal reached the quarter after beating Yuichi Sugita 6-3 6-1 6-3, Nick Kyrgios 6-3 3-6 7-65 7-63, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-2 6-3 6-2 and Joao Sousa 6-2 6-2 6-2. Rafa will face Sam Querrey in the quarters and the American could be a huge test for Rafa as he reached the final 8 without dropping a single set on the way after the following wins against Dominic Thiem 6-74 7-61 6-3 6-0, Andrey Rublev 6-3 6-2 6-3, John Millman 7-63 7-68 6-3, and Tennys Sandgren 6-4 6-77 7-63 7-65.

Novak Djokovic

Nole is the defending champion and the world no.1 to be considered by many as the top favorite to win Wimbledon for the 5th time in his fantastic career. The Serbian got to the last stages of the tournament after beating Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3 7-5 6-3, Denis Kudla 6-3 6-2 6-2, Hubert Hurkacz 7-5 6-75 6-1 6-4 and Ugo Humbert 6-3 6-2 6-3. The so-called “Serbinator” will face David Goffin in the quarters strong of a 5-1 win-loss record.

What about the other players?

The other players that are still alive in the competitions are David Goffin, Sam Querrey, Kei Nishikori, Guido Pella, and Roberto Bautista Agut.

It’s extremely difficult to pick an outside among them as Djokovic, Federer, and Nadal are really playing fantastic tennis and they seem to have an edge on all of them. Probably the only player that has the experience to win the all thing is Kei Nishikori that has already played a slam final back in 2014 when he lost in the US Open final against Marin Cilic.
