Stefanos Tsitsipas, aiming to recapture his best form after a challenging 2024 season, is hopeful that the comforts of Melbourne, his “home” Slam, will ignite a strong start at the Australian Open. The former runner-up, who finished 2024 ranked 11th after a mix of successes and struggles, has enjoyed immense support in Melbourne due to the city’s large Greek-speaking community.
Reflecting on his past performances, Tsitsipas believes the atmosphere in Melbourne plays a crucial role in helping him perform at his best. “I just hope my tennis blends in well with the rest of the crowd and I’m going to be able to really perform at my highest level,” he said. The Greek player feels most at ease when surrounded by familiar support, noting that he tends to connect better with European vibes while struggling in the U.S.
Tsitsipas, who faces Alex Michelsen in his opening match, will be looking to build on his past successes in Melbourne to capture his first Grand Slam title.
