Amidst the devastating wildfires ravaging Los Angeles County, tennis stars and their teams have offered their support and tributes to the victims. Coco Gauff, who is gearing up for her Australian Open campaign, sent her heartfelt thoughts and prayers to those affected by the disaster, which has already claimed 16 lives, destroyed over 10,000 structures, and forced more than 150,000 evacuations. In a similar gesture, former ATP pro and ex-coach of Coco Gauff, Brad Gilbert, shared an update on the safety of his family. Responding to inquiries about his family’s well-being, Gilbert wrote, “Knock ✊ on wood 🪵 family is safe 🙏” while discussing the uncertain weather conditions for the upcoming Australian Open.

Former WTA player Pam Shriver, who is an ESPN analyst and coach to Croatian tennis player Donna Vekic, revealed that she would be staying in California to manage her family’s needs during this difficult time. Shriver confirmed that she would miss the Australian Open in 2025, as she focuses on supporting her loved ones and the wildfire efforts. In her heartfelt message, she acknowledged the extraordinary efforts of the MVP athletes working to contain the fires and promised to help rebuild and support the affected communities.
