In a move that beautifully blends the worlds of sport and haute couture, Dior has announced Zheng Qinwen, the 22-year-old Olympic tennis champion, as its new global brand ambassador. Zheng, who has been nicknamed “Queen Wen” by her fans, made history by becoming the first Asian tennis player to win gold in singles at the Paris Olympics. Currently ranked fifth in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, Zheng embodies the elegance and boldness that Dior stands for.

Born in Shiyan, a city in the northwestern province of Hubei, Zheng started playing tennis at the tender age of seven. She quickly rose through the ranks, making her professional debut in 2019 and capturing her first WTA title in 2023 at the Palermo Ladies Open. Her stellar performance in 2024, which included a runner-up finish at the Australian Open and a successful defense of her Palermo title, culminated in her historic Olympic gold medal victory.

Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s creative director of womenswear, has long been inspired by athletic references in her collections. From her fencing-inspired debut in 2016 to her role in crafting outfits for performers at the Paris Olympics, Chiuri has consistently celebrated the synergy between fashion and athleticism. Zheng’s appointment as a global ambassador continues this tradition, highlighting Dior’s commitment to empowerment and self-assertion.

Zheng’s partnership with Dior is not just a nod to her remarkable achievements on the tennis court but also a testament to the brand’s ongoing celebration of strong, talented women. As she steps into this new role, Zheng is set to inspire a new wave of collaborations between top-tier couture and elite sporting figures, showcasing the undeniable fusion of sport and style.

With her dynamic presence and trailblazing spirit, Zheng Qinwen is poised to make a significant impact as Dior’s global ambassador, further solidifying the brand’s vision of elegance in perpetual motion.
