Ten-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner have drawn opposites for the season’s opening major, preventing a rematch of the semifinal match from the previous year.
After defeating Djokovic in the semifinals here the previous year, Sinner returned to win his first Grand Slam singles title by defeating Daniil Medvedev 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3.
Top-seeded Sinner faces Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, and Medvedev in his quarterfinals, and he faces Nicolas Jarry in the first round.
Fans recently went crazy when they watched Sinner’s pre-Australian Open training video. One fan wrote: “Looking great.”
