Anna Kalinskaya’s challenging start to 2025 continued as she withdrew mid-match against Belinda Bencic in the Adelaide International. The World No. 14, struggling with possible heatstroke and an unconfirmed injury, trailed 2-6, 0-1 before retiring.
Kalinskaya had hoped to recover from her early singles exit in Brisbane and build momentum ahead of the Australian Open. Despite a runner-up finish in Brisbane doubles with partner Priscilla Hon, Kalinskaya couldn’t find her form in Adelaide.
Bencic, expressing concern for Kalinskaya, said, “I wish Anna all the best. Hopefully, she’s ready for the Australian Open.” Kalinskaya now turns her focus to Melbourne, aiming to bounce back and regain her rhythm.
