Alexander Bublik, known for his controversial remarks, has slammed Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal for their “circus-like” retirement decisions. The Kazakhstani tennis star criticized both legends for continuing to play through injuries, calling their farewells “embarrassing.”
Murray retired in August 2024 after a 20-year career, while Nadal bid farewell in November at the Davis Cup Finals. Bublik labeled their retirements as overblown, remarking, “We used to watch them with awe, but now it’s a bald man and an old man. It was a circus.”
Bublik also criticized Murray’s coaching role with Novak Djokovic, dismissing it as an attempt to cling to past glories. Despite his provocative comments, the 27-year-old is preparing for the Adelaide International ahead of the Australian Open, while Murray focuses on helping Djokovic secure another Grand Slam victory.
