Venus Williams may win a medal after saving incredible match point

Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram seem to be destined to win a medal in Rio. Venus didn’t even think about playing the mixed doubles, but she decided to give it a shot after she crashed out in the early rounds of singles and doubles.

Eventually, the American team reached the quarters winning an incredible match against Kiki Bertens and Jean-Julien Rojer of the Netherlands 6-7 (4), 7-6 (3), 10-8.

The highlights of the day were definitely the match point saved by Ram with a very lucky volley.

LUCKIEST POINT OF THE YEAR?

The luckiest point of my life. RAM

Rajeev commented “It was probably the luckiest shot of my life. But you know, I guess the end of it is we ended up winning, so we’re lucky to play another day. I thought we got better as the match went on and I’m looking forward to playing tomorrow.”

This is a sign. VENUS

Williams thinks that this incredible win could be a sign to comment “Thank God he hit that shot on match point. After that happened, I was like; there’s a reason why we’re here. This is a sign! And when you’re coming back from behind, the pressure’s all on them to make something happen, so thank God he hit a great shot at the end!”

The American team will face Fabio Fognini and Roberta Vinci from Italy. Some more luck on its way?
