Anyhow, the set was not over yet and there was more work to do for Halep to win the set since Cori succeeded in breaking back in the 3rd (1-2) game. Simona kept her cool to break Gauff in the 6th (4-2) game before winning the set (6-3).

At the end of the match, Simona scored 68 points vs. Gauff’s 51 points.

The Romanian won this match even if she had some problems in converting her break points because she converted only 42% (5/12). On the other side, the American had some problems in converting her break points since she converted only 33% of her break points (2/6). That was one of the key issues for her defeat.
