Novak Djokovic has joined forces with Andy Murray as his new coach, marking a significant shift in his preparation for the 2025 Australian Open. The Serbian legend, with 24 Grand Slam titles to his name, aims to refine his game to compete against younger stars like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
After a challenging 2024 season, where his only title was an Olympic gold medal, Djokovic, now ranked seventh, has focused on tactical improvements rather than overhauling his playing style. “I love talking to Andy about nuances and court positioning,” Djokovic shared, emphasizing the value of small gains at the highest level.
Murray, who retired from professional tennis last August, joined Djokovic’s team during the off-season. Despite their years as fierce rivals, Djokovic expressed gratitude for Murray’s insights and meticulous coaching approach. “Being on the same side of the net is actually great for a change,” he said, highlighting Murray’s unique perspective as a former competitor.
Djokovic, a 10-time Australian Open champion, is eager to leverage Murray’s experience to enhance his transition play and tactical awareness. The collaboration reflects Djokovic’s commitment to adapting and thriving in the ever-evolving tennis landscape.
