It’s official: Djokovic retires from Cincinnati.
There were rumors about Nole being injured, and unfortunately he admitted that he is struggling in an official statement.
The statement
Djokovic released the following statement
“I am very sad to announce that I won’t be able to play this year in Cincinnati at the Western & Southern Open. I have a recurring injury that has taken its toll on my body due to a very busy and active schedule this year. I have played many matches, and I have to take some rest in order to heal.
I always have my hopes high on returning to Cincinnati and winning the only trophy I am missing in the Masters Series.”
Cincinnati is the only ATP1000 that Djokovic hasn’t won so far, but the important question mark will be the nature of his injury.
