Benoit Paire is a rather controversial guy that doesn’t like to follow the rules. Arnaud di Pasquale, the technical director of the French tennis team, announced on Tuesday that Paire was ordered to leave the team.
Why the decision
The decision was executed after Benoit lost his second round match against Fognini 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5) after squandering two match points, but everything was agreed already on Monday. Arnaud commented “This is not the first time he has been warned. The France team, it is not an open bar. There are rules to follow. The decision was made last night (Monday). We did not see much of him in the Olympic Village.”
Arnaud didn’t go in more details.
I am happy to leave. PAIRE
The Frenchman shrugged off the decision to comment “Now I know how the Olympics are, I am happy to leave. The tournament was good preparation for me. My tennis is there again, and it’s in a good place. The rest is secondary.”
Not great…
