Andy Roddick shared his insights on Holger Rune’s current standing compared to Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. While Alcaraz and Sinner are on trajectories toward becoming all-time greats, Roddick noted Rune’s ongoing challenges, particularly his search for a stable coaching relationship and consistent playing identity.
“Alcaraz and Sinner are seemingly destined for greatness,” Roddick remarked, “but Rune is still figuring out his coaching dynamics and his identity as a player. Sometimes he’s defensive, sometimes offensive, and he often looks to his box for guidance.”
Roddick emphasized Rune’s raw potential, mentioning victories over Novak Djokovic as evidence of his capabilities. However, inconsistency remains a hurdle. “There’s so much to like about Rune, but the day-to-day strategy shifts, as Jim Courier has pointed out, show he’s still finding his footing,” Roddick concluded.
Rune’s immense talent keeps him in the conversation, but stability and consistency will be key for his rise to match Alcaraz and Sinner’s level.
