Roger Federer is chasing his 9th title in Wimbledon. So far the Swiss sensation had a rather easy ride at SW19 with the exception of the very first set of the opening match that he lost to Lloyd Harris. Besides that amnesia, Roger was mainly untroubled when beating the South African 3-6 6-1 6-2 6-2, Jay Clarke 6-1 7-6 (3) 6-2 and Lucas Pouille 7-5 6-2 7-6(4) in the following rounds.
Next match vs. Matteo Berrettini
Roger will face Matteo Berrettini in the 4th round on Monday. The Italian is currently at his career high (20) and he is full of confidence on grass especially after winning the title in Stuttgart and reaching the semifinal in Halle.
Why Federer thinks it is going to be tough against Berrettini
Even if he the obvious favorite to win the match, Roger is fully aware that he needs to keep his focus to beat the Italian to comment
“I don’t know him very well, so that makes it a bit more tricky. I saw him play a little bit in Halle. Saw his run, of course, in Stuttgart. Now he’s backing it up here again. That’s not easy to do, especially when you’re sort of newer on the tour.
I’m expecting a tough one. I hope he has no energy left after today. I’m sure he’ll recover. He’s young. I’m sure we’ll see a tough match on Monday I guess it is.”
The favorite for Tennis Tonic is Roger Federer that should win in 3 sets.
