Anna Kalinskaya enters the 2025 season with optimism after a transformative 2024. Reflecting on her journey, the Russian tennis star expressed pride in her progress despite a year filled with challenges and triumphs.
Kalinskaya highlighted her leap in performance, reaching a career-high ranking of world No. 11 on October 28, 2024. She also celebrated her achievement of being seeded at the Australian Open 2025, a first in her career. “I’m happy where I am now,” she shared in a video, adding that her journey has made her “super happy and super proud.”
Her 2024 season was punctuated by notable successes, including a deep run to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, where she impressed fans with her strong gameplay before falling to Qinwen Zheng in a three-set thriller. Another career milestone came at the Dubai Tennis Championships, where she advanced to her first WTA 1000 final.
However, her path wasn’t without hurdles. Kalinskaya sustained a right forearm injury during Wimbledon, which forced her to retire mid-match against Elena Rybakina. The injury marked a difficult period, yet she emerged stronger, determined to continue improving.
