Ferrero revealed that the team has been focusing on physical conditioning and fine-tuning Alcaraz’s technique, particularly his serve, to make it more fluid and consistent. “We are trying to change something in the serve, so that it has a bit more rhythm, that it is more fluid and relaxed,” Ferrero noted. “We are also working on the shots because in certain situations he needs to be more of a killer.”
Reflecting on Alcaraz’s successful 2024 season, which included a Grand Slam victory, a Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells, and an ATP 500 win in Beijing, Ferrero acknowledged the challenges posed by rival Jannik Sinner’s dominance. He stressed the need for Alcaraz to maintain mental focus and address the fluctuations in performance during matches.
“Carlos is very aware of the things he has to improve,” Ferrero explained. “He knows he has to work on the ups and downs during a match because it’s a mental thing and not a tennis thing.”
Ferrero concluded by reiterating his goal of helping Alcaraz reach his full potential. “We’re looking for a player who is a 10 in practically everything. You have to enhance your skills and improve your defects,” he said.
As Alcaraz gears up for the Australian Open, his team is determined to ensure he enters the tournament motivated and ready to showcase his best tennis consistently.
