The Manchester-based sports company Club de Padel has announced plans to expand, and Sheffield will host its first padel club. The Neepsend development, a proposal to revitalize the site of the former Cannon Brewery, will include the new arena.
By 2025, Sheffield will have five panoramic padel courts thanks to Club de Padel, which became well-known for its creative approach to the racket sport. The club will also have other social and health areas, a coffee and juice bar, and a club shop. Since its launch in Manchester in 2023, the brand has swiftly gained popularity among padel fans, so its growth is a big milestone for it.
Club de Padel co-founder David Blake said he was thrilled to be bringing the club to Sheffield. “Were really excited to bring Club de Padel to Sheffield and have the chance to breathe new life into this incredible space alongside the team at Capital&Centric,” he stated. The club wants to offer padel, a sport that has become increasingly popular in the UK, to as many people as possible.
270 new residences, offices, and cultural spaces will be part of the Capital&Centric-led Neepsend development. The project’s second phase, which includes the padel club, is anticipated to enhance Sheffield’s standing as an outdoor, energetic city.
Capital&Centric’s co-managing director, Tom Wilmot, emphasized the project’s revolutionary potential. “Opening a padel club in this post-industrial setting will create an immersive and engaging experience unlike anywhere else,” he stated. The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority has awarded the project a funding of 11.67 million to begin the regeneration process.
The fact that Club de Padel has expanded to Sheffield is evidence of both the sport’s rising appeal and the company’s dedication to making it available to everybody. Club de Padel is positioned to have a major influence on the local sports landscape thanks to its creative strategy and community-focused philosophy.
