I am not sure I will play in Rio. NADAL

Rafael Nadal has a rather weird relationship with the Olympic Games. The Spanish sensation won the gold in singles in 2008. He was meant to be the flag-bearer for Spain in 2012 (London), but he was sidelined by an injury. Now, in 2016, he is still designed to be the flag-bearer, but he is not sure he will compete because he is still struggling in recovering from a wrist injury.

I am not sure I will play

Rafa did fly to Rio (with his friend Ferrer and his entourage), but he confesses he is unsure about what he is going to do.

“I will not be at the best level in any of the categories,” Nadal commented on Sunday. “I have not competed for two months, and I have not trained a lot.”

“I will train a few days here to see what I can do and then decide what is best, to be more positive for me and the team.”

The likely scenario is that Rafa will represent Spain during the ceremony, and he may play doubles or mixed doubles.

Will Nadal play in Rio?
