Nick Kyrgios has never been one to shy away from controversy, and his recent comments about Jannik Sinner have certainly stirred the pot. During a recent podcast appearance, Kyrgios revealed his intentions for a potential clash with Sinner at the 2025 Australian Open, promising an “absolute riot” on the court.
Kyrgios has been openly critical of Sinner since the Italian tested positive for Clostebol, a banned substance. Despite receiving a no-fault verdict from the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), Kyrgios has called for a two-year ban and has taken numerous jabs at Sinner, accusing him of “acting like a victim”.
In his podcast interview, Kyrgios expressed his eagerness to face Sinner, stating, “I just want to go out there and I really want to play Sinner. Like I’m waiting for it man.” He went on to say that if they were to meet at the Australian Open, he would do everything in his power to turn the crowd against Sinner and create an “absolute riot”.
Kyrgios emphasized that he would set aside “all respect” in his pursuit of victory, adding, “I would lose all respect, all respect would go out the window and I would just do anything to win.” His comments have certainly added fuel to the fire, and fans are eagerly anticipating what could be one of the most heated matches in recent memory.
While Kyrgios’ plans have drawn criticism from some quarters, others see it as a testament to his passion and competitive spirit. As the 2025 Australian Open approaches, all eyes will be on these two players and the potential clash that could define the tournament.
What do you think about Kyrgios’ approach? Do you think it will help or hinder his performance?
