In a heartwarming moment, Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner has once again been voted the ATP Fans’ Favourite singles player for 2024. This marks the second consecutive year that Sinner has received this prestigious honor, solidifying his status as one of the most beloved players on the tour.
Sinner’s 2024 season was nothing short of spectacular. He started the year with a 16-match winning streak, which included his maiden major trophy at the Australian Open, making him the first Italian in the Open Era to win the singles title there. Throughout the year, Sinner claimed a tour-best eight titles, including his second major singles triumph at the US Open and victories at three ATP Masters 1000 events (Miami, Cincinnati, Shanghai) as well as the Nitto ATP Finals. His success on the court was matched by his sportsmanship and dedication to the fans.
Reacting to the award, Sinner said, “I just want to thank all the fans around the world for voting for me. It means so much to me because the votes are coming from all of you. You are the reason why I love to play tennis. The support has been amazing throughout this whole season.”
Sinner’s achievements this year also included leading Italy to a successful Davis Cup title defense, with his decisive victory over Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor in the final match. His consistent performance and ability to win titles without losing a match in straight sets have drawn comparisons to tennis legend Roger Federer, who is also a two-time Fans’ Favourite winner.
Sinner’s popularity goes far beyond those fervent, orange-costumed Carota Boys. For the second straight year, the Italian, the first from his homeland to reach No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings, has been voted the Fans’ Favourite singles player in the annual ATP Awards.
This award reminds us of the essential relationship between players and fans, where passion and admiration fuel the spirit of the game we love. Sinner’s heartfelt gratitude and remarkable achievements make him a true champion both on and off the court.
