In padel, the bajada is a special and important shot. After the ball bounces off the back glass, it is played from close to it. The shot is made above head height and resembles a conventional tennis serve. To make it hard for your opponents to control, you want to strike the ball downward so it travels quickly and bounces close to the service line.

Attacking shots like the bajada make your opponents either run forward to stop the ball before it bounces or position themselves to handle a quick rebound off the back glass. Regaining control of the net position and countering high lobs are two excellent uses for it.
