When Gael Monfils is at his best, there is not much to do for his opponents. The Frenchman played an incredible match against home favorite Milos Raonic in Toronto to beat the Canadian in straight sets 6-4 6-4.
Gael grabbed the decisive break in the 2nd set after an incredible rally (see video below) when he recovered from a desperate situation twice. Gael won the encounter after 72 minutes.

After the match, Gael commented “I had some opportunities, and tonight I just made them. I think I’m a guy who’s always pumped up. Any energy, I take it. Even if it’s for me or not for me, I take it.”
Raonic
Milos was quite disappointed after the match to comment “He was doing a lot of good things. He played well. He played smart in the right moments. He was making the shots.”
The semi vs. Djokovic
Monfils will play Djokovic in the semifinal. The head to head is 11-0 for the world no.1, but Monfils has a clear shot at upsetting Nole.
