Iga Swiatek, world No. 2 and five-time Grand Slam champion, has revealed details about her one-month suspension for a doping violation, describing it as the “toughest battle” of her life. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) disclosed that Swiatek tested positive for trimetazidine in August but found “no significant fault or negligence,” attributing the violation to contaminated melatonin supplements.
Swiatek, provisionally suspended from September 12 to October 4, has nearly completed her ban and is set to compete in the United Cup and Australian Open. She emphasized her commitment to proving her innocence, stating, “I’ve always strived for a career that stands as an example of fairness.”
Reflecting on the emotional toll, Swiatek expressed gratitude for her fans and vowed to continue embodying the values of integrity in her sport.
