Rafael Nadal’s longtime agent paid a poignant homage to his career.

After Spain lost to the Netherlands in the Davis Cup quarterfinals, Rafael Nadal announced his retirement from tennis on November 19, 2024, capping an incredible career that spanned more than 20 years.

Nadal said goodbye to the sport with emotion. After Spain lost to the Netherlands in the Davis Cup Finals quarterfinals, Rafael Nadal’s career came to an end after more than two decades of playing. Even though a lot of people were expecting this moment, the outcome wasn’t what Nadal had hoped for because he was unable to win one last match. Nevertheless, his family and close friends were there to see the poignant event, and the home fans accorded him a sympathetic farewell.

Carlos Costa, Nadal’s longtime agent, gave the farewell a heartfelt touch by sharing a treasured memory that affected Nadal’s sister, Maribel. Costa, who has been with Nadal for his entire 22-year career, has amassed an enormous collection of memories and special moments. He gave fans a sentimental look at some of these cherished moments after the farewell.

Costa shared a picture of his assortment of ID badges from the several competitions he participated in with Rafael Nadal on Instagram. Credentials from prestigious competitions such as the Australian Open and the French Open, where Nadal won two and fourteen titles, respectively, were included in the collection. Costa wrote as the caption, “22 years around the world enjoying a great @rafaelnadal in the best tournaments in the world.” Many people expressed their delight for this unique glimpse into Costa’s collection on social media, including Maribel Nadal, who responded with heart-eyed emojis and clapping to show her gratitude for the tribute.
