Nick Kyrgios and the Rogers Cup do not enjoy a great relationship. Last year, Nick was caught sledging Wawrinka in Montreal; this year he fell to 17-year-old Denis Shapovalov. To be honest, the young Canadian is one of the most interesting rising stars, and he played a great match against the Australian, but still you would expect something better from Kyrgios. Shapovalov won 7-6 (2) 3-6 6-3 in 1 hour and 39 minutes.
Shapovalov has recently won Wimbledon (Juniors), so he is widely expected to have a good run in the ATP circuit.
Get practising that autograph, Denis #Shapovalov. You’ll be using it a lot! #RogersCup https://t.co/kRsZ9udpkC pic.twitter.com/IBsNAPM4BB

I’d go all of the above, to a degree, but Shapovalov showed incredible poise given complete lack of ATP experience. https://t.co/EFB9TYr3rC

Next vs. Dimitrov
Shapovalov will now face Grigor Dimitrov in the second round. The Bulgarian should be worried about that.
