The FIP Promotion India Padel Open will be part of the CUPRA FIP Tour, India’s first-ever international padel competition, which is an exciting milestone for sports fans. The Times Group’s Bennett University in Greater Noida will host this historic event from November 21–24, 2024.
Usually played in doubles on a smaller, wall-enclosed court, padel is a racket sport that blends aspects of squash and tennis. A strategic element is added to the game by allowing players to hit the ball off these walls to keep it in play. While the strategic features provide seasoned players complexity and excitement, the smaller court and usage of barriers make it easier for beginners to understand and enjoy.
India’s best padel players will compete in the competition among well-known international players from Spain, Japan, the Netherlands, France, Italy, and Iran. This event, which is sponsored by Padel League Private Limited and The Times Group, India’s top media outlet, and approved by the International Padel Federation (FIP), is a major turning point in the country’s sporting calendar.
Mr. Vineet Jain, Managing Director of The Times Group, expressed his excitement about hosting the first FIP event at Bennett University. He stated, “This pioneering event will further accelerate the growth of Padel in India and drive new players and fans towards the sport. Padel has the potential to become one of the leading sports in the country and attract investment in infrastructure and facilities.”
Aditya Khanna, Founder Director of Padel League Private Ltd. and Tournament Director of FIP Promotion India, added, “We’re thrilled to bring forward the FIP Promotion India and to see the growth of Padel in the Indian sports ecosystem. This tournament will provide Indian players with an incredible opportunity to showcase their talent on an international platform and take part in the global Padel movement.”
