Johanna Konta keeps on surprising!
The Brit no.1 defeats Venus Williams 7-5 5-7 6-2 to claim her first WTA title in Stanford. Joanna was rock solid to keep her cool after she squandered a 7-5 4-1 lead. In fact, Venus managed to reverse the score line to win 7 of the following eight games and lead 5-7 7-5 1-0. At that point, it was time for the Brit to fight back: Johanna won the following three games (3-1) to finally grab the match after 2 hours and 18 minutes.

After the match, Johanna commented “It was quite an incredibly humbling experience. It’s a great validation of the hard work you do put in, and it’s a great motivator on the things you want to keep getting better at, the length you want to go to become that much more better at your discipline. “
After this week, Joanna will be ranked no.14, and she is going for more.
