Better late than ever.
Paolo Lorenzi finally wins his first ATP tournament at 34 years of age. The Italian had a fantastic run in Kitzbuhel where he won the title after dropping just 1 set. In the final, Lorenzi defeated Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-3 6-4.
I do not mind my age. LORENZI
After winning the final, the Italian commented “I think it’s great to win an ATP World Tour trophy. I don’t look at the age, so I don’t mind if it’s happening at 34.
Winning one trophy was a goal for this year, so it’s great for me. I hope this is not the last. I’m changing a lot. I need to be more aggressive and improve a lot of things, so this is just the start.”
After this win, Lorenzi will be back to the Challenger Tour in Biella. A completely different stage.
