Darren Cahill, one of tennis’ most esteemed coaches, has confirmed that his coaching journey will end with his current role mentoring world No. 1 Jannik Sinner. The 59-year-old Australian has played a pivotal role in Sinner’s rise since joining his team in 2022, guiding the Italian to unprecedented heights, including two Grand Slam titles, four Masters 1000 trophies, and the top spot in the ATP rankings.
Cahill, who previously coached legends like Andre Agassi, Simona Halep, and Andy Murray, has stated he will not seek another full-time coaching role after his collaboration with Sinner concludes. “Whatever [Sinner] wants,” Cahill said, explaining that the decision rests entirely with the 23-year-old.
Together with Sinner’s head coach, Simone Vagnozzi, Cahill has been instrumental in reshaping the Italian’s career. Under their guidance, Sinner has reversed losing records against elite players like Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev. Cahill credits Vagnozzi as the “main voice” of the team, emphasizing the strength of their collaborative approach.
Currently competing at the ATP Finals in Turin, Sinner has dominated the group stage, not dropping a single set against top-tier opponents. With a semi-final berth secured, he aims to win the prestigious season-ending title on home soil, further solidifying his status as a leading force in men’s tennis.
For Cahill, however, the focus remains on the present. “There’s always a right time to get a new voice,” he admitted, acknowledging the need for evolution in coaching partnerships. Yet for now, the bond between Cahill, Vagnozzi, and Sinner seems unbreakable, paving the way for further success.
