Cori Gauff has become the youngest player to qualify for the Wimbledon. She is now in the 3rd round of Wimbledon after defeating Venus Williams and semifinalist Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia. Cori Gauff defeated over five times winner, Williams, and shocked everyone with her great performance. She reached the third round after moving straight from the qualifications without even losing a single set. She is giving marvellous performances oozing with confidence and high spirits.

The world no.3 and the 8 time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer is super excited with the achievements of the 15-year-old Cori Gauff. 

Federer commented about Cori in a press conference:

“That stuff doesn’t happen every day. I thought it was super special for Coco. I thought she handled it great. She wanted to be on the big court. She wanted to play against her idol. That’s what good players, that’s where they shine, I’d say.”

Born on 13th March 2004 in Atlanta, Georgia, she started playing tennis since she was seven years of age. She got training at the New Generation Tennis Academy in Delray Beach, Florida with Gerard Loglo. At eleven she was selected by Patrick Mouratoglu who was the coach of Serena Williams as a part of his Champ’Seed foundation. She trained with him in Nice, France.

Cori Gauff has many achievements to her name at a very young age of 15. She won her first match in 25K even at Osprey where she made her ITF debut as a Qualifier. Gauff is also the youngest finalist in the girl’s singles event at the US Open. Cori became the second youngest player to win the Junior French Open in 2018. Not just this she is also the youngest tennis player to qualify for a Grand Slam Tournament main draw. 

Cori is an idol for all young aspiring girls interested to play tennis at the big stage, with her stellar performances she has won hearts all over the globe. She is an achiever at a very young age and her portrayal as the next Serena Wiliams does not seem to be an exaggeration.
