During the 2024 tennis season, Coco Gauff earned an astounding $9,353,847 in prize money, the seventh-highest amount in a single season in WTA Tour history.
The 20-year-old Gauff’s greatest tennis payout occurred at the WTA Finals in Riyadh, where she defeated Zheng Qinwen to receive a $4.805 million check.
The American player earned $4,548,847 before the final, having earned $4,075,987 in singles and $472,860 in doubles for the 2024 WTA Tour season.
However, Gauff’s $335,000 participation fee, two group victories ($700,000), semi-final victory ($1,270,000), and final victory ($2,500,000) earned her $4.805 million, more than doubling her campaign prize money.
She talked about it and said: “I didn’t know, like I knew it was some money, but I didn’t know that much. Oh gosh, I hope I’m one of the highest-paid female tennis players this year or athletes, so that’ll be exciting. Honestly, I wanted to win this for myself. I didn’t know that it was the biggest prize cheque on this tour; I didn’t know anything about that. I knew there was money, but I try not to never play for this, but that’s cool.”
She added: “Oh, it means a lot to me. I have bought a house. I’m going to a music festival next week. So, I don’t know; I’m not someone who likes to spend a lot of money, to be honest. I don’t know what I’ll do with it. That’s a lot of money.”
The 2023 US Open champion has earned $21,581,989 since going pro in 2018, surpassing the $20 million career earnings mark with $9,353,847. She earned $6,669,622 in 2023, which was her previous highest earnings season.
