Felix Auger-Aliassime is not a fan of Nick Kyrgios as a person though he is quite appreciative of the Australian as a tennis player. Both played against each other at Queen’s and there the young Canadian came to know about the volatile nature of the Australian. He repeatedly ranted at the officials and even threw his racquet off the court when he lost the match. Auger-Aliassime is certainly not appreciative of the ways and the manners of the young Australian though there are people who think that there is a great entertainment value of the acts of the young Australian.
The 18 years old Canadian defeated Kyrgios at Queen’s in London 6-7 7-6 7-5. Often termed as the ‘bad boy of tennis’, Kyrgios had heated exchanges with the umpires during the 1st and the 2nd round match at the tournament and was slapped a $25,000 fine.
Notably, Kyrgios refers to him as ‘King Kyrgios’ on his Instagram account.
What Auger-Aliassime says about Kyrgios
While talking to the Life Media, the young Canadian star said: “I think he’s a good tennis player, but I could never be friends or close to a person like that, beyond that, if I wasn’t a tennis player – for example, if we knew each other at school or whatever – he’s not someone I would be friends with or hang out with.
“So you have to look at two things. There’s the tennis player, and there’s the person. I don’t really feel like associating with a person like that.’
“All I have to say, really, about a person like that is that I admire what he does on the court. He’s a very good player. His tennis qualities are incredible.”
