Carlos Alcaraz is trying to keep his mind off Rafael Nadal’s farewell and the Davis Cup finals. The 21-year-old is probably going to be a key player in the 22-time Grand Slam champion’s incredible career finale.

Nadal, who has had great success throughout his career, announced in October that he would be retiring from professional tennis on home soil.

Alcaraz is focused on attempting to win the ATP Finals for the first time before attempting to assist Spain in winning the Davis Cup for the first time since 2019.

With Nadal scheduled to retire following the Davis Cup finals, Alcaraz will have an emotional season finale. Throughout his career, the world number three was motivated by his countryman, and the two played doubles together at the Olympics in Paris.

Even though watching Nadal retire will be tough, Alcaraz wants to concentrate on the ATP Finals before going to Malaga for Nadal’s final match.

Alcaraz recently said: “For me, it is difficult to accept that Rafael Nadal is going to retire, honestly. Right now or one week ago I was just focused on this tournament. I don’t know how it’s going to be at the Davis Cup. I am not feeling extra pressure about playing in the Davis Cup, the last tournament for Rafa. I just want to go there and see how it’s going. I don’t want to think that it’s going to be like that or I am going to feel like that. I am just going to go there and see how it is.”
