Carlos Alcaraz recently shared his feelings about the impending retirement of his fellow Spaniard and tennis legend, Rafael Nadal. Speaking to reporters before the ATP Finals in Turin, Alcaraz admitted, “It is difficult to accept that Rafael Nadal is going to retire, honestly.”

Alcaraz, a rising star often compared to Nadal, explained that he’s currently focused on his own performance in Turin and hasn’t fully processed the reality of Nadal’s departure from competitive tennis. However, he anticipates it will be a significant moment, especially as they come together for Spain in the Davis Cup, which will likely be Nadal’s final tournament.

Alcaraz expressed that he isn’t feeling additional pressure going into the Davis Cup. Instead, he hopes to approach the experience with an open mind, letting the moment reveal itself organically. “I am just going to go there and see how it is,” he remarked, noting that he doesn’t want to set any expectations.
